Moderation Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026 · Markdown
We want Off the Clock to be a safe place where people can be themselves. Admins label content when it's appropriate and remove anyone who does something illegal, offensive, or hateful, or who makes other people uncomfortable being themselves. There's no appeal at this time. If you're removed, you keep your data.
1. Why we moderate
Off the Clock exists so people can be themselves, authentically, among people who were vouched for. Moderation protects that. When someone's behavior makes others uncomfortable or keeps them from being themselves, protecting the space comes first.
2. Who moderates
- Community admins moderate every space.
- Space admins run their own space: its members, feeds, and policy.
- The community identity, @off-the-clock.us, holds the records that decide who is in which space.
Moderators are members of the community acting by hand. We don't use automated moderation.
3. Spaces' own rules
A space may have its own policy, which its members accept before reading or posting there. Its admins enforce it within the space, on top of the Terms of Service, which apply everywhere.
4. Labels
Admins may label content where they judge it appropriate:
| Label | What it does |
|---|---|
| nsfw | Shows the content behind a warning |
| spoiler | Hides the content behind a spoiler cover until someone chooses to see it |
| shadow | Hides the content from everyone but admins |
A label can apply to a post or other record, a picture or video, or an account, and to one space or the whole community. A label changes how Off the Clock shows something; it doesn't change your account or what you wrote.
5. Removal
You will be removed from a space or from the whole community if you:
- do anything illegal;
- post or say anything offensive or hateful, including the content listed in the Terms of Service; or
- make other people uncomfortable being themselves, or keep them from being authentic, including through harassment, mockery, pressure, or exclusion.
We may also remove someone who breaks a space's own rules, or who we believe is a risk to other members. We decide on the facts we have, and we may act without warning when someone's safety or comfort is at stake.
There is no recourse for disputing a removal at this time. We're a small community, and we'd rather be honest than promise a process we can't run fairly.
6. What removal means for your data
Removal ends your access; it doesn't take anything from you.
- Your posts and everything else you wrote stay in your own account, on your own provider. We don't delete them, because we can't: they're yours.
- Off the Clock stops showing them to other members, and you can no longer read the spaces you were removed from.
- What you do with that data afterwards, and how it's stored or deleted, is between you and your provider.
Removing you deletes the grant that let you in, along with any note on it.
7. Reporting a problem
If someone is making you or others uncomfortable, or you see something that breaks these rules, tell a space admin or a community admin, or message @ngerakines.me or @off-the-clock.us on Bluesky. Tell us who, where, and what happened. We'll look at every report.
8. Changes
We'll update this policy as the community grows, and post about significant changes in general before they take effect.
