# Terms of Service

Last updated October 27, 2026.

Off the Clock ("Off the Clock," "we," "us," "our") is a members-only community on the Atmosphere, the open network built on the AT Protocol that Bluesky and a growing number of other apps use. It runs at `off-the-clock.us` and is run by Nick Gerakines (@ngerakines.me), an individual based in Ohio, USA, through the community's own identity, @off-the-clock.us.

These Terms govern all of Off the Clock: the site, every community, and every space within it. By signing in and joining, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't join.

> [!SUMMARY] Off the Clock is a place to be yourself among people who were vouched for. You sign in with your Atmosphere account, and everything you create is written to your PDS. Off the Clock indexes your content and makes it available to the other members of the community, but does not control or own your data. Spaces can add their own rules on top of these. If you do anything illegal, offensive, or hateful, or make other people uncomfortable being themselves, you will be removed, and there is no appeal at this time. If you're removed, you keep everything you posted.

## 1. Who can join

Off the Clock is an invitational members-only community. A community admin adds you to one or more groups within the community, and you become a member when you sign in and choose to join. Being invited doesn't make you a member; joining is your own decision, and it is recorded in your own account.

You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live) to join.

You need an Atmosphere account to sign in: a Bluesky account, an account with another provider, or one on your own server. That account, and the provider that hosts it, are separate from Off the Clock, and their own terms apply to them.

## 2. What Off the Clock is, and what it isn't

Off the Clock is a website and two supporting services (an index and a feed service) that let a group of people share posts, events, polls, bookmarks, and more in **spaces**: permissioned areas on the Atmosphere that only their members can read.

**Off the Clock doesn't own or control your data.** When you post, the post is written to your own account's repository, on your own personal data server (PDS), and associated with the space you posted in. Off the Clock keeps an index of what members write so it can show it to the other members of that space, but the record itself is yours, held by your provider.

We don't host your account, store your password, or control your identity. We don't run Bluesky or any other app, and their rules are their own.

## 3. Communities, spaces, and their own rules

Everything here happens in community spaces. The General is the community space every member is in; other spaces belong to a group, like a household, a club, or a neighborhood.

A space may have its own rules: a policy its members accept before they read or post there, and admins of its own who run it. **A space's rules add to these Terms; they don't replace them.** Where a space's rules and these Terms disagree, these Terms win.

## 4. The rules every space shares

We want Off the Clock to be a safe place where people feel comfortable being themselves. These rules exist to protect that.

**You may not use Off the Clock to:**

- do, plan, or promote anything illegal;
- post content that attacks, degrades, or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or immigration status;
- harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone, here or elsewhere;
- share sexual content involving minors in any way;
- share someone's private information, or anything they told a space, outside it without their consent;
- make other people uncomfortable being themselves, or keep them from being authentic, through mockery, pressure, pile-ons, or exclusion;
- impersonate someone, or mislead people about who you are;
- send spam or run automated accounts without the admins' agreement; or
- interfere with the site or its services, or try to read spaces you aren't a member of.

**We may also act on anything else we find seriously objectionable.** These lists can't be complete, and we'd rather say so plainly.

The [Moderation Policy](/moderation/) explains how these rules are enforced.

## 5. Your content

You own what you post. By posting in a space, you allow Off the Clock to read it from your provider, index it, and show it to that space's members, for the sole purpose of running the community. That permission ends when you delete the content or leave.

What you post in a space is readable by that space's members. They can remember it, quote it, or take a screenshot, and Off the Clock can't stop that. Post with your audience in mind.

## 6. Removal

We may remove you from a space or from the whole community if you break these Terms, a space's rules, or the law, or if we believe you are a risk to other members.

**There is no way to dispute a removal at this time.** Off the Clock is small and run in our spare time, and we'd rather be honest about that than promise a process we can't keep.

**If you're removed, you keep your data.** Your posts, events, votes, and everything else you wrote stay in your account, on your provider, exactly as they were. The community stops showing them and stops letting you read its spaces. What happens to that data afterwards, and how you manage it, is between you and your provider.

You can also leave at any time by asking an admin to remove you. You keep your data then too.

## 7. Labels

Admins and moderators may label content, for example as not safe for work or as a spoiler, or hide it from other members, where they think it's appropriate. A label changes how Off the Clock shows the content; it doesn't change the content or your account.

## 8. Availability

Off the Clock is run with care, but we don't promise it will always be available, and we may change, pause, or end it. Because your data lives in your own account, ending Off the Clock wouldn't take it away from you.

Off the Clock is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it.

## 9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we make a significant change, we'll post about it in general before it takes effect and update the "Last updated" date. If you keep using Off the Clock after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply.

## 10. Contact

Questions about these Terms go to @ngerakines.me or @off-the-clock.us on Bluesky.
