# Cookie Policy

Last updated October 27, 2026.

We keep this short, because our use of cookies is short.

> [!SUMMARY] Off the Clock uses cookies only for features you need or ask for, like keeping you signed in. We don't use tracking, analytics, performance, or advertising cookies, and no third party sets cookies through us.

## 1. The cookies we set

Only the website at `off-the-clock.us` sets cookies. This policies site and our docs site set none.

| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `__Host-otc_session` | Keeps you signed in | Until you sign out, or up to 7 days |
| `__Host-otc_oauth_flow` | Carries your sign-in safely through your provider's approval screen and back | 10 minutes |
| `__Host-theme` | Remembers light or dark mode, if you chose one instead of following your device | A year, or until you choose "system" |
| `__Host-embeds` | Remembers which video and music providers you said may always play in place | A year, or until you reset it in Settings |

All four are first-party cookies, sent only to `off-the-clock.us` over encrypted connections, and none of them can be read by scripts on the page.

## 2. What we don't use

We do **not** use:

- tracking or advertising cookies,
- performance or analytics cookies, or
- third-party cookies of any kind.

When you allow a video or music provider to play in place, its player is that provider's, and it may set its own cookies under its own policy. Until you press play and allow it, its player isn't loaded.

## 3. Why there's no cookie banner

Our cookies are strictly necessary for the service you asked for, or remember a choice you made. Under EU law (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive) and UK law (regulation 6(4) of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), cookies like these don't need consent. The law still requires us to tell you about them, which is what this page does.

## 4. Turning cookies off

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. If you do, you won't be able to sign in to Off the Clock from that browser.

## 5. Changes

If we ever want to use cookies for anything else, we'll update this policy first.
